New build house using French limestone, St Maximin
Manor House Farm. Leicester.
New build house using French limestone, St Maximin.
The brief was simple, a peaceful house in a mock Tudor style, mixing red bricks with stone windows and stone door frame.
There is an imposing stone bay window on 2 floors with very nice carving and some delicate stone flowers done in St Maximin stone ( very similar to the local Weldon stone from Northamptonshire.), Anstrude stone was going to be chosen but the texture was not a good match for the red coarse bricks.
The great limestone door frame houses a thick oak panel door, and after a few years the house will blend beautifully in the surrounding. You can always trust stonemasonry to age gracefully compare to low quality reconstituted stone.
