The 15 tonne tension on each cable allows this gigantic structure, 1300 mm wide, to float effortlessly. In French limestone, with 23 steps per flight, these were a challenge. 

Webb and Yates have had to  crush numbers for weeks with the help of powerful software to make the elegant stone snakes twist through the circular stairwell.
